Down To One Spot

With the Brooklyn Nets and Orlando Magic both clinching spots in the playoffs on Sunday night, the leaves only one spot left to fill in the Eastern Conference playoffs. So here is the updated scenarios going into tonight’s games.

6. Brooklyn Nets- Already Clinched Playoffs (Tiebreaker 41-40)

  • Night off- Finishes the season vs. Heat tomorrow. (A victory clinches the 6th spot and/or an Orlando loss)
  • Brooklyn can’t be worse than the seventh seed in the playoffs

7. Orlando Magic- Already Clinched Playoffs (Tiebreaker 41-40)

  • Night off- Finishes the season at Charlotte (Needs a victory and a Brooklyn loss to become the 6th seed)
  • If Orlando loses and Detroit wins both games, Orlando becomes the eighth seed

8. Detroit Pistons- (39-41)

  • At home vs Memphis and tomorrow on the road at New York (Pistons needs to win both games- To make playoffs)
  • Charlotte owns season tie breaker over Detroit, if teams tie with the same record
  • If Detroit wins both games and Orlando loses to Charlotte, Detroit will be the seventh seed and Orlando will be eighth due to the tie-breaker
  • Detroit owns Tie-breaker over Miami if both teams tie

9. Charlotte Hornets- (38-42)

  • At Cleveland (Tuesday) and Home for Orlando (Tomorrow) (Charlotte needs to win both games and have Detroit lose one of their two final games)
  • If All 3 teams tie (Detroit, Charlotte and Miami), Charlotte makes the playoffs
  • Charlotte owns tiebreaker over Detroit

10. Miami Heat- (38-42)

  • At Home for Philadelphia (Tuesday) and Road against Brooklyn (Wednesday), Miami can only make the playoffs if they win both games and
    • Detroit loses both games and Charlotte loses one of their final 2 games
